From: PS P Subject: Pankov's proposals on Syllabus Date: Fri, 17 Nov 2006 18:21:32 +0300 Dear Tom, I appreciate the idea of having an official "IOI Syllabus" and think that your "A proposal for an IOI Syllabus" can be accepted as a base for it. 1) I propose to exclude "Arbitrary-size integer arithmetic" as "Not needed" from PF3 in section 6.2.1 because it can cut off interesting tasks (and even if a task has an optimal solution within a standard integer type, a contestant may find another solution with intermediate results exceeding the range). 2) I propose to change the item GV in section 6.2.3. GV: Graphics and Visual Computing Unlimited: graphics primitives: point, segment, rectangle, circle; color. (All contestants of IOI level do know these items). Excluded: combination of text and graphical images; changing images; controlled images. I attach my proposal (I also sent it to President Zide Du). Even if my proposal is not accepted this year I ask not to describe "Graphics and Visual Computing" as excluded absolutely. Sincerely, Pavel
